In cooperation with Friedrich-Ebert foundation , a workshop on the Opening of Young Leaders Program for 2017 was held by TOSD on 24 and 25 of February at Bloom hotel in Baghdad. The first day of the workshop was dedicated to the opening of the program and included welcoming speeches by the organizers and introduction sessions to the program , its goals, mechanisms , rules , implementation plan and discussing the young participants about their expectations and inquiries about this program. The first day sessions were run and moderated by our fellows Vain Alsheikh Ali , head of TOSD, Evan Al-faily , the program coordinator, Ms. Anja Feller, the resident manager for Friedrich-Ebert foundation , our fellow Yousof Ibrahim , the coordinator of Iraq programs at the foundation ,and  our fellow Sahar Al-iyadi, one of the officers in the young leaders program in Jordan.

Moreover, the first day included a session to exchange information and to introduce the program by the program graduates of 2016 and the participants of this year in order to provide a room for discussion and take advantage of the experiences to create strong interactive bonds between both groups to establish the young leaders network.
The activities of the opening ceremony  was concluded by a welcome party held by the German Embassy on the honor of the young leaders in  the evening of 24th  February at the embassy headquarters in Baghdad . During the event, the German ambassador, Franz Joseph Crimp, delivered a welcoming speech to the young leaders expressing his happiness with  the efforts exerted by the German foundations to improve the young capabilities . The event was attended by 67 people from the program graduates and the new participants and from TOSD administration and Friedrich-Ebert foundation. During this event,  the embassy staff ,the young leaders, and the organizers made friendships and exchanged information and experiences about the current situation of the youth in Iraq as well as their activities and interests. The embassy’s party ended with artistic activities made by the young leaders  , then thanks were exchanged among all participant parties for the generous hospitality and warm reception.
On the second day , the opening workshop was dedicated for the training of the young and providing them with information and knowledge on the concept of civil work and its basics, communication and leadership skills and intermediation to settle the conflict. The training was conducted through providing the young leaders with intensive and  concentrated information included some drills and active participations. The workshop, then , concluded with the youth’s pledge to conform with the ethics of the program and its goals, and they highly praised the program. On its part, TOSD expressed its thanks and pleasure to this distinguished elite of Iraqi youth.
It is worth mentioning that this program, Young Leaders 2017, is well distinguished by its comprehensive  representation of  all provinces and most of the Iraqi  people components. In this program 40 participants men and women are trained on eight topics during the year to invest in the field of building up the youth capabilities and raising awareness among changes in the Arab world, as well as enhancing contact and interactive relationship among the participated young leaders from different provinces in a preparation to enrolment in politics and civil society, notably after the success achieved by the program in its first session for the year 2015-2016 where a group of active young leaders  graduated from across Iraq and now they have more active civil presence.
