   Under the slogan of “Iraq is our responsibility”  Young Leaders Program concludes “Social Responsibility” workshop

 Tammuz Organization for Social Development in collaboration with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation organized a workshop entitled "Social Responsibility" within the Young Leaders Program for the year 2017, on 28 and 29 April 2017 in Najaf.

The workshop was opened with a welcome from Ms. Vian Al Shaikh Ali, President of Tammuz Organization, to the participants and instructors. She expressed her pleasure to hold this workshop in the holy city of Najaf.
Afterwards, colleague Evan Karim, coordinator of the program of young leaders, clarified: goals of the workshop, the most important themes and mechanisms of work
Over the two days. The young were divided into two training groups with an instructor for each, one of which trained by Dr. Tahir Al-Attar and the other by Yas al-Urdawy and to exchange, later, the training and groups at the following day, that is A mechanism, used by Tammuz organization in the training of young leaders, aimed to benefit, greatly, from the subjects of training and to interact with them well.
The topics of the training dealt with social responsibility by introducing them& their importance to our community and country on the one hand and their importance to the young who are active in leading community initiatives on the other, through social participation and social accountability as a fundamental principle of democracy, Which provides for the citizen's right to hold accountable the official.
And the realization of social accountability, its mechanisms, what is the role of government institutions and services that must be provided to citizens.
The key factors in achieving accountability and the needed units to have it structured, how to achieve community assessment. the training program, also, included governance and good governance issues , Corruption and its social impacts, monitoring ,as one of the most important mechanisms of accountability, and finally the importance of media and networking between organizations and activists to achieve social monitoring , accountability and enhance the individual's responsibility towards their society through training on community participation and the second element in social responsibility Which means the participation of the individual in taking responsibility and contributing to the implementation of community work to serve the public good, contributes to the provision of direct services to community groups and this is often what youth and civil initiatives excel at.
The training program included many activities and practical exercises as effective tools in communicating information ,interacting with them ,encouraging dialogue and discussion on political and social issues which help in achieving the goal of training , capacity building , developing the young capacities in the subject of participation and social accountability to enhance their youth activities and initiatives, So that to be qualified to engage and lead voluntary, civic and political work in the future, providing them with basic and practical knowledge and enabling them to  transfer that through awareness and training to other young people.
After two days of intensive training, the workshop concluded with the satisfaction of the young participants and their instructors, and with words of thanks and appreciation from the organizers, who thanked the participants for their attendance and commitment, thanked the instructors for their good performance and thanked the young volunteers of the young leaders for The efforts they have made to ensure the success of training.
One of the advantages of this workshop, is a meeting of young people from all over the Iraqi provinces, with their various affiliations, recognize the culture and privacy of the holy city of Najaf where it was the first visit to Najaf by many young people, especially the young of Kurdistan Region who were keen to visit the shrine of Imam Ali, Kufah mosque, and the cemetery of Waddi Alsalam. Recognizing the city- of Najaf. As they have described, it was a successful and important experiment. The workshop was also marked by the help and welcome of the participants of the young leaders from the city of Najaf, whether graduates of last year or participants this year who worked wholeheartedly for the success of the workshop and to accompany their colleagues from the rest of the provinces and facilitate their stay.
It is worth mentioning that this workshop is the third of eight workshops in the Young Leaders Program for 2017, which is implemented by the Tammuz Organization for Social Development in cooperation with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation for the second year, in which 40 young men and women from all over Iraq participate and aim to invest in the young   capacity building and  Raising awareness in light of  changes in the Arab world, as well as strengthening networking and communication among young participants from different governorates in preparation for engaging in politics and civil society. Especially after the success of the program in its first session of 2015-2016, in which, a group of young activists, from all over Iraq, participate, who has a more effective civilian presence today.
