Training of Young Leaders on (Climatic Change and its Social Effects)

In cooperation with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, The organization of Tammuz for social development held the fifth training workshop of young leaders’ programme for 2017, which was dedicated to the subject of

“Climatic Change and its Social effects”, the workshop was held on 21-22/07/2017, at the hotel of Kristal in Erbil.
The meeting was called to order by our colleague, the head of Tammuz organization, who welcomed the participants and the instructors, and wished them all to benefit from the subject of the training for what it represents in terms of achieving sustainable development in accordance with the action plans of the international  organizations and  institutions on one hand, and for being one of the subjects that are rarely worked on by civil society organizations in Iraq on the other hand, which holds the young leaders the responsibility of working  socially on it through the dissemination of information and to work for its promotion to sensitize citizens with the source of the environment pollution and climatic change  and how to benefit from the alternative energies, hence  reducing its negative effects and increasing the positive ones.
The training was initiated after the participants and the instructors had got to know each other, and then the participants were divided into two training groups each group with one instructor to be exchanged the following day.
The first group took the subject of  the climatic change, which was presented by Mr.Omran Abu- Murshid, an engineer, that included several areas the first  of which was a presentation on human beings, environment And how to exploit natural resources in a way that ensures achieving sustainable development. The second area was on the climatic change in Iraq, its causes, treatment methods, and national plans to reduce pollution and climatic change.
While the third area was on solutions and international reaction to climatic change, international treaties and conventions were reviewed, as well as conferences that  held to reduce emissions of gases, use of renewable energy and reducing global warming for the purpose of environment preservation, in addition to contributions that nationally determined in Iraq.
For the second group, they were trained on the subject of renewable energy,
It was presented by Professor Ayub Abu-deah, in which he addressed several topics included providing information on renewable energy, how to develop renewable energy, the ambitions on renewable energy around the world,
“Renewable energy as the future of the improving countries and their way to be independent”
On the second day, the groups were exchanged by the instructors so that each group would be trained on the same subject on whom the other group had trained on the first day.
A lot of interventions, requests were raised during the training and discussions, in which the young participated; it also included several mini- workshops and exercises.
It is worth mentioning that the two instructors are from Jordan, our brotherly country, and they are highly experienced and allocated in this area.
At the end of the second day, a dinner meeting was held with our friend of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung who specially attended this evening at which our friend Anya Feller said good bye to the young leaders after her work as a manager of institution’s office in Iraq and Jordan had ended, Also to be acquainted with Mr. Tim Botchlat, the New manager of the institution.
During the evening, many speeches were delivered by the managers of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, in charges of Tammuz organization and by the young leaders which were expressions of thanks, respect and pride of what had been achieved and what is expected to be achieved in future through this partnership.
