Tammuz Organization for Social Development participates in the societal dialogue in Baghdad

Tammuz Organization for Social Development participated in in the social dialogue in Iraq conference on 29 November 2017 which was held at Mansour Milia hotel with the attendance of a number of civil society, international organizations, trade unions as well as representatives from the ministry of labor and social affairs. The conference was initiated by our colleague Wissam Jasib of Al-tadhamun center, he welcomed the attendants and gave an overview on the conference.

Provided an input to the social dialogue at the national level as well as the definition and explaining the future of social guarantees for workers and employees in Iraq through two interventions: the first was made by Mr. Ali Al-hilu of Ministry of labor and social affairs which was entitled

"The bill of social insurance from a governmental point of view" and the second one was  

 Introduced by a team of unions and civil society organizations on the Vision of trade unions and civil society organizations on the law draft, the problems contained in the law as well as the unfairness that would be endured by all society components in case of passing this law.

Also, the second session of the conference featured the reality and the future of trade unions rights and freedom in Iraq and stating its impact in enhancing the social peace, the reality of rights and trade unions in Iraq and the concerning legislative framework of which:

-The enactment of Law 52 of 1987 after the adoption of International Labor Convention No. 87 of 1948.

- The framework of trade union freedoms in the Labor Law, 37 of 2015.

- Draft law of trade unions and trade unions.

- Proposed law of trade union rights and freedoms in Iraq and prepared by trade unions.

 In the second evening, the conference included a presentation by Dr. Mazhar Mohammed Saleh on the future of economic policies in Iraq, projects and investments as well as the economic policy of Iraq under the current circumstances. The last session included a working session between the trade unions, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, 37 of 2015 in order to guarantee the rights of all groups, especially the working class.
