Under the slogan:” the electoral behavior is the standard of societies’ progress and sophistication”

On Thursday 26/1/2018,at Youth Forum Hall of the Youth and Sports Directorate in the city of Nasiriyah, Dhi Qar Governorate, Tammuz Organization for Social Development office  in Dhi Qar held an educational dialogue seminar on the behavior of voters in voting in elections and determining the number of seats in each governorate  and it was held for university graduates.

The seminar was initiated by our lecturer colleague Razzaq-Obaid  Dhaher welcoming the female and male participants, after acquaintance and introducing the participants to each other, our lecturer colleague presented the seminar’s goals, expectations and results, the colleagues of Tammuz Organization gave an overview on the organization and its activities  especially at the field of elections and its role in monitoring all electoral processes  from legislative environment to the announcement of the results and certifying them.

Afterwards, a simple review of voters’ behavior during previous electoral cycles took place, as well as other countries experiments, how to vote and its importance at each electoral process and what is citizens’ role to enhance this societal education and to exercise their right to vote  and to express their opinions in civilized way and the reflections of all that on political life in society.

A detailed explanation of the factors influencing electoral behavior was presented and focused on:

1. Social, educational and university establishment of the electorate.

2- Age.

3. Cultural and social level.

4 - The political and economic trend.

5. Party definition.

6. Race and ethnic group.

7 - Current and general events (displacement - wars - and others) political conflicts.

8. Advertising and media.

And then a discussion was held of a set of points and find the best basis for the advancement of selection and objectivity in order to promote democracy in isolation from the effects and ensure the peaceful transfer of power and the maintenance of democracy in Iraq through the holding of elections at the specified time and also abide by the conditions and instructions issued by the Independent Electoral Commission in preparation for the upcoming elections, Will be held on 12 May 2018.

It is also worth noting the readiness of Tammuz Organization for Social Development to monitor the parliamentary elections in all governorates of Iraq, which will be held on May 12, 2018 through the training of its observers and access to all procedures and compliance with the instructions issued by the Independent Electoral Commission in order to ensure the integrity and transparency of the elections.
