Election of Tammuz Organization for Social Development Within the Coordinating Committee of the Iraqi Women's Network 2018

 Tammuz Organization for Social Development participated in the National Conference on the Program for meeting  the Needs of Women in Conflict, under the theme "Women of Iraq, Peace and Justice" organized by the Iraqi Amal Association and the Iraqi Women Network supported by Oxfam. The conference was held in Baghdad / 10 March 2018 in the presence of a wide range of representatives of civil society organizations activists, media and social figures.

 The aim of the conference was to highlight the leading role of women in drying up the sources of terrorism, restoring stability and building peace and security by organizing advocacy campaigns and lobbying to mobilize public opinion on the needs of women in conflict situations,

And to provide a message to decision-makers on the need to provide protection mechanisms for victims of gender-based violence and to work with the relevant authorities to reduce violence in line with the objectives of Security Council resolution 1325.

 The first session of the conference was opened with the speech of the Iraqi Hope Society by Mr. Hassan Wahab, Coordinator of the program, followed by the representative of the British Oxfam Organization, followed by the speech of the Chairperson of the Higher Committee for the Advancement of Iraqi Women, Dr. Thikrah Alloush. , Followed by a statement by the Iraqi Women's Network and the Coalition of Women Human Rights Defenders.

The conference also included honoring Iraqi female leaders who have had a wide impact on the various segments of society and who have provided many achievements to the Iraqi society and to the civil work of women artists and activists.

The second session of the conference, during which the final report of the program to meet the needs of women in conflict situations was presented, included:

- Showing of a documentary about the achievements of the project and the activities of alliances.

- Achievements (gathering without violence) Baghdad

- Presentation of activities (alliances of young leaders) Kirkuk.

- Presentation of activities of Najaf alliance.

- Presentation of the activities of the Babel Women's Alliance.

- Coalition (we will succeed) Salahuddin.

- A presentation of the most prominent activities of the Coalition of Women Human Rights Defenders and the campaign of (Be Her Supporter).

- The experience of the Organization (Iraq's Health Gateway) in working in conflict areas.

 Followed by the third session which was related to the works and activities of the network of Iraqi women, which included the following:

- The activities of the Iraqi Women's Network during the years 2016 and 2017 were summarized briefly by MS. Amal Kabbashi.

-  A presentation of the plan of action of the Iraqi women's network for 2018, which was presented by Dr. Suha Al-Azzawi.

The last session of the conference was dedicated to the elections of the Coordinating Committee of the Network of Iraqi Women and was conducted according to the usual electoral contexts, where the previous coordination committee was dissolved

And to give thanks and gratitude for the work and activities during the previous period and took place during the meeting:

 • Formation of the session management committee.

• Opening the nomination of organizations and people for membership of the Coordinating Committee of the Iraqi Women Network.

• The start of elections, vote, vote counting and sorting and announcing results.

 After the counting of the votes and the announcement of the results, it was announced that Tammuz Organization for Social Development won the membership of the Coordination Committee of the Iraqi Women Network.

At the conclusion of the conference, the new winners were congratulated for the membership of the Coordination Committee of the Network and thanked the participants for their interaction and attendance at the conference and recommendations that promote social cohesion, renounce violence and reduce extremism and terrorism for the next stage.

 

On the sidelines of the conference, after the completion of the conference, a delegation of women represented by our colleague Vian Al-sheikh Ali, participated in the celebration, held by the Association of Iraqi Women and the a bouquet of roses with greetings and congratulations were presented on the occasion of the International Women's Day and the 66th anniversary of the founding of the Association and were received by Ms. Shamran Maroukl

They were received by Ms. Shamran Maroukl, President of the Women's Association and a number of members of the Secretariat of the Association. The celebration was held at the “Culture for All” society Hall on 10 March 2018.
