A panel discussion on societal violence in Dhi- Qar

On Thursday, October 27, 2022, Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with the Deanship of the Faculty of Physical Education at Dhi Qar University, held a panel discussion on societal violence.

The discussion took place with the presence of Mr. Adel Odeh Al-Ghazi, Dean of the College, in addition to a number of professors and students.

As the issue of societal violence was discussed and what are its types and manifestations and its negative effects on the individual and society and how to reduce it.

Statistics of violence registered in police stations, courts, community police, and family and children departments were presented, besides what other civil society organizations had monitored.

After that, the door was opened for discussion and interventions among the attendees and the majority of opinions agreed that a large part of the solution to this phenomenon is the exercise of the legislative authority’s role by enacting strict and deterrent laws for the violent person to limit it.
