Dialogue seminar on women’s rights and their relationship with society
On Wednesday, January 12, 2022 in Dhi Qar Governorate, Tammuz Organization for Social Development organized a dialogue symposium on women’s political rights and their relationship with society within the female revolution project.
The seminar, which was held at the hall of the Technical Institute in Nasiriyah, was attended by the Dean of the Technical Institute, Dr. Khawam Al-Husseini, in addition to a number of students and professors.
The symposium was initiated by welcoming the attendees. Tammuz organization staff summarized the organization’s work and its most prominent activities, besides explaining the female revolution project and its importance in empowering women.
The symposium initially dealt with the list of human rights, then General Assembly Resolution No. 649 issued in December 1952, passing through the International Covenant, Article 18, and the CEDAW Treaty, after which some articles of the Iraqi constitution addressed upon, Article 20 and Article 48 fourth
After that, the discussion revolved around the percentage of women’s participation in the October 2021 elections, which witnessed a significant increase in the number of female voters, besides the triumph of several female candidates outside the quota for women.
In conclusion, the staff of the Tammuz Organization thanked all the attendees and the Deanship of the Technical Institute for their cooperation with the organization in order to hold the symposium.
The “Female Revolution” project is implemented by the Tammuz Organization in cooperation with the PAX organization in the governorates of Najaf and Dhi Qar. It is a program that aims to highlight the role of women and develop their capabilities to change their stereotyped image and take part effectively in leadership and decision-making positions.
