Dialogue session entitled “The Actuality of Human Rights in Iraq”

Tammuz Organization for Social Development held a dialogue conference entitled “The Actuality of Human Rights in Iraq” in arrangement with the Lebanese international jurist and trainer Dr. Kholoud Al-Khatib and the Bahraini research worker Zainab Al-Khawalja, on Thursday, February 3, 2022 in Baghdad.

The session witnessed the attendance of several activists of both sexes in civil society and human rights from different governorates of Iraq. The aim was to identify the reality of human rights in Iraq by hearing from activists of both sexes and discussing the most prominent challenges and obstacles.

As the session began with Dr. Khouloud Al-Khatib and researcher Zainab al-Khawaja asking questions to the activists, which revolved around the challenges and obstacles facing the work of activists in human rights and civil society.

The session also dealt with advocacy campaigns in Iraq, ways to succeed, and what are the challenges facing defenders. After that, the reality of the work of civil activism in Iraq and what are the mechanisms for enabling it were discussed.
