Dialogue session on domestic violence law
Tammuz Organization for Social Development carried out a dialogue session on the draft law on domestic violence within the female revolution project on Thursday, July 14, 2022, in Dhi Qar Governorate
The session was attended by a number of female activists in Dhi Qar Governorate, where the aim was to discuss the draft law on domestic violence, starting with the structure of the Supreme Committee against Domestic Violence and passing through the most prominent articles of the law.
The articles related to maintaining the confidentiality of sessions and persons reporting the existence of violence were also discussed, besides providing the necessary protection for the person who was a subject to violence.
At the end of the session, they agreed that there would a campaign by the female revolution team to collect the signatures of several deputies to bring the draft law back to the fore in the Iraqi parliament.
The law aims to protect the family and women and girls in particular, from all forms of gender-based violence, limit its spread and prevent it, punish its perpetrators, compensate for the harm resulting from it, protect victims, provide them with the care and rehabilitate them. And achieve family reconciliation
