Tammuz Organization for Social Development holds four awareness workshops to widow women rights

Tammuz Organization for Social Development holds four awareness workshops to widow women rights in Baghdad during the period from February 2013 until June 2013, and under slogan “For widow rights too”, 112 widows participated in this workshops of several areas in Baghdad, also attended the workshop guests the Ministry of Human Rights and the Department of Women’s Welfare following to the Ministry of Labour and a number of radio and television stations.

The aim of these workshops is to raise level of legal awareness for widows and help in registery them in Department of Women’s Welfare of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs Department, and remove obstacles, reduce of administrative corruption and bureaucracy during period of registration.  

The training included introducing widows from legal side, and it also cleared women rights according to Iraqi constitution and international agreement. The participants talked about their daily endurance either in house or in market and the reasons not legal registration up to this period and what are the obstacles facing women widowed when they followed up the Department of Women’s Welfare. 

 After listening to widow women problems it has been trained on the steps of registration in the department of women’s welfare in the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs Department, and clarify the future utility after the registration.
