Tammuz Organization participates in forum and the International Committee for International Social Forum acts in South Asia in Dhaka-Bangladesh during the period 18-25/2011
Ali al-Dujili, the secretary of Tammuz Organization for Social Development, participated in the acts of south Asia forum with Iraqi delegation that held in Dhaka-Bangladesh during the period 18-21/11/2011. Iraqi Delegation represents Tammuz Organization, Masala Center for Human Resources Development, Information Center for Research and Development, Iraqi Women Network, Basra Civil Forum, Iraqi Center for Research and Studies and representatives of the union with the Engineering professions – south electricity sector, in addition to the International Initiative for Solidarity with Iraqi civil society.
Iraqi delegation arrived in Dhaka on 16/11 to contribute to the work of the Social Forum for South Asia, which also was attended by delegates from South Asian countries (India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Thailand addition to the host country Bangladesh.
The opening march of this forum was attended more than 20 thousand participants of these countries, as well as delegations from through the word, but the Iraqi delegation was the most prominent in terms of the type and size. Iraqi delegation participated in debate sessions, studying seminars and conferences that talked about proposed alternatives within the Forum movement of the political, economic and social situation in the world in terms of poverty, violence, democracy, human rights and globalization, and raised several slogans most notably:
No more control of the forces of global fund the fate of billions of people, and yes for social alternative and not for external democracy and yes for participatory democracy. The forum also discussed the new transformations and Arab Spring and its important role in creating new system to ride of dictatorship, tyranny.
The contribution of Tammuz Organization and Iraqi delegation also included the participation in the international committee meeting of International Social Forum, which established in 2001 in Brazil, the international committee represents the key factor for the movement of International Social Forum and includes members of social movements all over the world. The meeting of the international committee was in Dhaka University during the period from 22-25/11/2011 and the Iraqi delegation put forwards the idea of the establishing of Iraqi social forum including the active social and civil movements and represents the groups between movements and networks that work in Iraq and have apparent attitude to resist of Neoliberal project based on the basis of perfect turnabout of market economy and Iraq subjection to control of the international companies and capital forces. The attending of Iraqi delegation has a big effect on the international committee special by its contribution in arrange of forum due to be held in Tunisia in 2012 on the need to support the establishment of the Iraqi Social Forum due to be held in 2013 in Baghdad with high contribution of international.
The main meeting has permeated interviews by activists, professors, political parties and educative of host country and participation delegation, all expressed their happy to existence of Iraqi delegation.
