Under the slogan “Increasing gender balance in decision-making”

On Monday, August 23, 2021 at Al-Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad, Tammuz Organization for Social Development participated in a training workshop organized by the Electoral Commission in cooperation with the United Nations Women’s Authority. 

The purpose of the workshop was to teach civil society organizations and representatives of political entities to expand gender balance in decision-making in political parties and to insert electoral plans and decisions to empower women in the next elections.

The workshop discussed several axes, including Election Law No. 9 of 2020, in particular the nomination mechanism, electoral districts, the electoral system, and the expected chances of women according to the new law. 

Besides, the procedures for electronic and manual voting, counting, and sorting were explained, as well as the working mechanism of the electoral devices used on the day of voting.

The commission’s lecturers also discussed electoral appeals and the complaints mechanism during the polling day and after the results were announced, and intensively educating women to take part in the upcoming elections.
