Tammuz Holds Electoral Awareness Forum for Youth and Women in Baghdad

As part of the project “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media”, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development—in collaboration with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners, Shams and Ein Networks for Election Monitoring—organized an Electoral Awareness Forum for youth and women in Baghdad Governorate on Tuesday, 3 June 2025, at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Hall.
The forum was attended by youth and women interested in electoral affairs, along with members of civil society organizations and volunteer groups. During the session, participants were introduced to the legal framework governing elections (specifically the Iraqi Parliamentary Elections Law), the importance of elections and the democratic process, procedures for updating the voter registry, as well as the structure of ballot papers and polling centers.
Additionally, the forum featured discussions on the role of youth and volunteer teams in the electoral process and strategies to encourage voter participation in the upcoming elections.
