Tammuz Organizes a National Committee Meeting to Discuss the Election Monitoring Networks Coalition Report on the 2025 Elections

Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with Shams Election Monitoring Network and Ain Election Monitoring Network, organized a meeting of the National Committee of the Electoral Awareness Forum to discuss the Election Monitoring Networks Coalition report on the 2025 elections. The meeting was held as part of the “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Participation and Media Freedom” project, implemented in partnership with NPA and funded by the European Union, on 21 May 2026 in Baghdad.
The meeting was attended by a delegation from the Independent High Electoral Commission, headed by the Chief Electoral Officer, Hussein Abdul Sada, in addition to the Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic, Karim Mahmoud Al-Tamimi, and the representative of the First Deputy Speaker’s Office in the Iraqi Parliament, Abbas Al-Sharifi, alongside representatives from civil society organizations, trade unions, and various sectoral entities.

The meeting included the presentation and discussion of the Election Monitoring Networks Coalition report on the 2025 elections, highlighting the key strengths and shortcomings observed during the electoral process. Participants also presented a number of recommendations and corrective measures aimed at improving electoral performance and strengthening the integrity of the democratic process in the future.
In addition, the meeting featured a presentation on the key activities and achievements of the Electoral Awareness Forum during the previous phase, as well as its role in supporting and enhancing electoral awareness in Iraq.
