Tammuz Holds Electoral Awareness Forum for Youth and Women in Karbala

As part of the “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media” project, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners Ein and Shams Networks for Election Monitoring—organized an electoral awareness forum for youth and women in Karbala Governorate on Friday, 13 June 2025.

The forum was attended by groups of youth and women interested in electoral issues, as well as members of civil society organizations and volunteer teams. During the forum, the legal framework of the elections (the Iraqi Council of Representatives Election Law) was explained, along with the importance of elections, the democratic process, and the procedures for updating the biometric voter register, as well as information on ballot papers and polling centers.

The discussion also focused on the role of youth and volunteer teams in the electoral process and ways to encourage voters to participate in the upcoming elections.
