Tammuz Organization Holds a Dialogue Session on Promoting Tolerance and Rejecting Extremism in Karma Bani Saeed District

Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with the Subcommittee for Countering Violent Extremism in Thi Qar Governorate, held an educational dialogue session in Karma Bani Saeed District, Thi Qar Governorate, on 18 August 2026. The session focused on promoting a discourse of tolerance and rejecting extremism leading to terrorism, with the participation of a number of sheikhs and community leaders from the district.

The session included a presentation delivered by Mr. Razzaq Obaid Dhahir, a member of Tammuz Organization and the Subcommittee for Countering Violent Extremism in the governorate. The presentation addressed the historical background of extremism, its manifestations, and ways to promote a balanced discourse that preserves civil and community peace and rejects extremist ideas, while emphasizing the importance of promoting tolerance through a civilized approach.

Mr. Malek Al-Ghazi, a lawyer and one of Tammuz Organization’s activists, also presented a number of legal provisions related to extremism and violence.

The session witnessed active engagement from the participants, who raised a number of questions and comments that were discussed and addressed. The session concluded with thanks to the attendees for their participation and engagement.
