Digital Security Training for a Group of Women Activists in Najaf

The Women for Democracy project team, implemented by Tammuz Organization for Social Development, organized a two-day digital security training for a group of women activists in Najaf Governorate from 20 to 21 June 2025.
The training was led by Abdullah Fares, who, over the two days, addressed the reasons why individuals might attempt to breach our digital lives and explained how to enable two-factor authentication, highlighting its importance in protecting accounts from hacking.
The trainer also explained the difference between HTTP and HTTPS, introduced secure browsers, and demonstrated how to check links to ensure they are safe. Participants learned how to create strong, hard-to-crack passwords and store them securely using password manager applications. The session also covered the topic of social engineering, its techniques and risks, as well as phishing attacks and the tools used in such scams.
In conclusion, the trainer discussed the issue of blackmail, the best ways to avoid falling victim to online extortion, and the means victims can use to seek help if blackmail occurs.
