Tammuz Holds Electoral Awareness Forum for Youth and Women in Maysan
As part of the project “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Media Freedom”, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners, the Shams and Ein Election Monitoring Networks, organized an electoral awareness forum for youth and women in Maysan Governorate on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
The forum brought together a group of youth and women interested in electoral affairs, along with members of civil society organizations and volunteer teams. During the session, the legal framework of elections (the Iraqi Council of Representatives Elections Law) was explained, along with the importance of elections, the democratic process, and the voter registration update procedure, as well as information on ballot papers and polling centers.
The discussion also focused on the role of youth and volunteer teams in the electoral process and how to encourage voters to participate in the upcoming elections.
