Tammuz Implements the Third and Final Training Workshop for the Seventh Generation of the Youth Leaders Program
Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in partnership with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), implemented the third training workshop for the seventh generation of the Youth Leaders Program, entitled “Designing Initiatives and Advocacy Campaigns,” with the participation of 25 young men and women from different governorates across Iraq, during the period 17–19 September 2026 in Baghdad.
The three-day training was led by trainer Khidher Al-Domli. The first day focused on the foundations and key components of implementing civic initiatives, starting with identifying the problems and challenges facing communities, selecting and analyzing appropriate issues for initiatives, and developing a step-by-step implementation roadmap. The training included practical exercises and role-plays aimed at developing participants’ ability to present their initiative ideas and communicate with the public, in addition to identifying potential partners and addressing possible challenges, leading to the preparation of initial drafts of civic initiatives.
The second day focused on advocacy campaigns, addressing the concept and importance of advocacy and when issues require specialized campaigns. Participants also worked on defining campaign objectives and analyzing issues using SWOT analysis. They practiced identifying stakeholders and target groups, as well as developing advocacy campaign messages and content through interactive exercises, role-plays, and presentations of campaign ideas.
The third day addressed the principles of identifying issues that can be addressed through initiatives or advocacy campaigns, along with presenting the rationale behind their selection. It also covered planning an interactive advocacy campaign through social media and putting it into practice. The day additionally introduced the principles of coalition-building and networking with stakeholders to support initiatives and campaigns.
Throughout the training, practical exercises and group work were conducted to transform the concepts discussed into feasible ideas and projects. The workshop witnessed active participation and engagement from the young participants in developing issues, initiatives, and advocacy campaigns that could be implemented in their communities. The workshop concluded with Tammuz staff expressing their appreciation to the trainer for his efforts and to the participants for their commitment, engagement, and active participation throughout the three training workshops of the seventh generation, while wishing them success in implementing their community initiatives following the completion of the training program.
