Wheelchair Basketball Match Initiative

Sajjad Al-Hilali, a graduate of the sixth generation of the Youth Leaders Program, implemented a community sports initiative consisting of organizing a wheelchair basketball match at Al-Mustaqbal University on Wednesday, 14 January 2025, with support from Tammuz Organization for Social Development.

The initiative was carried out in cooperation with the Student Activities Department at Al-Mustaqbal University, with the participation of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, as well as players from the national team of the Paralympic Committee in Babil Governorate.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness of the importance of integrating persons with disabilities into sports and community activities, and to highlight their abilities and active role in society through sports.

This initiative comes as part of a series of community initiatives implemented by program graduates after completing the program, within the framework of their social responsibility toward their communities, and with the aim of serving society and raising awareness on various social and humanitarian issues.

It is worth noting that the Youth Leaders Program aims to develop community leaders and is implemented annually by Tammuz Organization in partnership with Friedrich Ebert Foundation. To date, six generations have graduated from the program, totaling more than 160 young women and men from different governorates, religions, sects, and ethnicities.
