Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with the Subcommittee for Countering Violent Extremism in Thi Qar Governorate, held an awareness-raising workshop on 12 October 2026 at Khawla Bint Al-Azwar Girls’ Preparatory School in Nasiriyah. The workshop addressed digital extremism and the risks of the misuse of the internet and social media platforms that promote extremist ideologies and incite violence and hatred.

Mr. Razzaq Obaid Dhahir, Tammuz Organization’s coordinator and a member of the Subcommittee for Countering Violent Extremism in the governorate, spoke about the dangers of digital websites and platforms that promote intolerance and fuel hatred towards others because of differences in their opinions or beliefs. He also explained the negative impact of these phenomena on society and social peace.

He further outlined ways to prevent digital extremism and emphasized the importance of using the internet and social media platforms consciously and responsibly, as well as the role of relevant authorities in monitoring inciting websites and taking the necessary measures to mitigate their risks.

The workshop emphasized that digital extremism can transform the internet from a means of communication, learning, and information exchange into a tool for spreading intolerance and hatred and inciting violence.
