A dialogue session under the slogan “The voice of Najafi women – challenges and solutions”
The project team of “women for Democracy”, which implemented by Tammuz Organization for Social Development in Najaf Governorate organized a dialogue session under the slogan “Najafi Women’s Voices – Challenges and Solutions” on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
The session was attended by a number of activists, representatives of civil society organizations, volunteer teams and representatives of government departments in Najaf Governorate, where the aim of the session was to discuss the challenges facing women, as the discussion in the session revolved around several topics, the most important of which are the marriage of minors and its health and legal effects on girls, Iraqi legislation and laws related to women, in addition to women’s opportunities in political representation and decision-making in Najaf Governorate, as well as depriving girls of education due to customs, traditions and others.
In conclusion, a set of recommendations emerged from the session, the most prominent of which are:
* The need to raise community awareness more about women’s rights and support them.
* Attention to the educational and health reality of women in rural areas.
* Eliminate discrimination in the granting of jobs and leadership positions between men and women in the governorate.
