Dialogue Session on the Gap Between Civil Society and the Dhi Qar Provincial Council

The project team of “women for Democracy”, implemented by the Tammuz Organization for Social Development, held a dialogue session in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Department in Dhi Qar Governorate, attended by Provincial Council member Nagham Al-Ibrahimi. The session took place on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Directorate of Youth and Sports Hall.

The discussion focused on the needs of women and activists in Dhi Qar Governorate and the challenges women face, particularly economic ones. Several issues were raised to Ms. Nagham Al-Ibrahimi for her follow-up and potential resolution, specifically regarding economic projects and empowering women to enter the labor market, as well as providing opportunities to enhance women’s capacities in various fields.

The attendees also emphasized the need to support initiatives targeting rural women, women in the marshes, and displaced women from those areas. They called on the local government to provide data and assist volunteer teams working on such issues.
