A Training Workshop on Environmental Advocacy Campaigns
Tammuz Organization for Social Development conducted a training workshop on environmental advocacy campaigns in Dhi Qar Governorate as part of the “Women for Democracy” project during the period from September 6 to 7, 2024.
The training was attended by 10 activists and led by trainer Nasir Baqir, who on the first day covered the concept of the environment, the ecosystem, and the relationship between humans and the environment, in addition to mechanisms for environmental protection, factors of climate change, and the means of adaptation. He also explained the role of civil society in confronting climate change.
On the second day, the trainer explained what environmental advocacy campaigns are and the steps to build environmental campaigns. The two training days also included practical exercises on writing campaigns and how to implement them in reality.
It is worth mentioning that this activity is part of the “Women and Climate: Their Protection is a Duty” campaign, carried out by the “Women for Democracy” project teams in Dhi Qar and Najaf, aimed at raising community awareness of the effects of climate change on society in general and women in particular.
