An educational seminar on the occasion of the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women

On Friday, December 2, 2022 in Al Thaqafa Street – Nasiriyah the Female Revolution Team – Dhi Qar Governorate implemented an educational seminar on the occasion of the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women within the Female Revolution Project.

The symposium, which was attended by many of both sexes, included four axes. They dedicated the first axis to introducing the female revolution team, the project, and its activities. The second axis talked about the history of the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women and the most essential results of the movement during the past years.

And the third axis dealt with violence in all its forms, types, causes, and how to reduce it. As for the fourth axis, it dealt with Iraqi laws, especially those that legitimize violence against women, including Article 41 of the Iraqi Penal Code No. 111 of 1969, paragraph A, which gave the man the right to discipline his wife, as this is considered as a violation to international agreements, including CEDAW and others.

Later, the team held a photo exhibition to educate the audience about the seriousness of continuing violence against women. They also distributed a brochure containing information and statistics about violence in Iraq, its causes, and methods of treatment. They also honored the female revolution team with a certificate of thanks and appreciation from those in charge of Culture Street because of the wide activity of the team in the governorate.
