Awareness Seminar on Elections in Dhi Qar

As part of the “With Your Vote, We Draw Change” campaign, the project team of Women for Democracy, which is implemented by Tammuz Organization for Social Development, organized an awareness seminar on elections and the importance of participation. The event was held in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) – Dhi Qar Office, on Thursday, 29 May 2025.

The seminar was attended by a group of women with disabilities and a number of youth interested in electoral affairs. Mr. Raed Aziz, Head of the Public Communication and Outreach Division at IHEC, delivered a lecture on the electoral process in general. He highlighted the procedures adopted to facilitate access for people with disabilities to polling centers and their participation in the elections and emphasized their vital role in the electoral process. The discussion also covered biometric registration procedures, the functionality of biometric devices, and the requirements and standards for party and candidate registration.
