Meeting of the Subcommittee for the Electoral Awareness Forum in Babel Governorate
As part of the project “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media”, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in collaboration with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners Shams and Ein Networks for Election Monitoring—held a meeting of the Subcommittee for the Electoral Awareness Forum in Babel Governorate on Monday 26 May 2025.
The meeting was attended by representatives from IHEC, civil society organizations, and professional unions. The primary objectives were to establish the subcommittee for the Electoral Awareness Forum in Babel, introduce the “Democracy and Transparency” project, and develop a tailored action plan for upcoming electoral awareness forums in the governorate.
Discussions also addressed key aspects of the electoral process, including the Iraqi electoral law, biometric voter registration updates, and strategies to enhance public engagement and transparency in future elections.
