Tammuz Holds a Dialogue Session on Electoral Programs of Female Candidates – Dhi Qar Governorate

As part of the “Women for Democracy” project implemented by the Tammuz Organization for Social Development, a dialogue session was organized in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Department in Dhi Qar Governorate on Thursday, August 21, 2025. The session took place at the department’s conference hall.
The session, facilitated by legal expert Sahar Jalil, brought together female candidates from various political parties and coalitions, alongside a number of women activists and individuals interested in political affairs.
The discussion focused on the role of electoral programs in addressing women’s issues and the extent to which female candidates commit to incorporating these concerns as priorities. It also explored the constitutional provisions that guarantee women’s participation and Iraq’s obligations under relevant international conventions.
Participants engaged in a rich dialogue about the importance of effective female representation in parliament to ensure fair legislation and rejected any political bargaining at the expense of women’s rights. Additionally, diverse viewpoints were shared on the value of party involvement in shaping the political identity of female candidates.
