Tammuz Holds an Electoral Awareness Forum for Academics in Baghdad
As part of the project “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of Media,” funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners from the Ein and Shams networks for election monitoring, organized an electoral awareness forum for academics in Baghdad Governorate on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
The forum was attended by a group of academics from various fields who are interested in electoral affairs. The session included a presentation on the legal framework of elections (the Iraqi Parliamentary Elections Law), along with an explanation of the importance of elections, the democratic process, and the mechanism for updating the voter registry, as well as information about ballot papers and polling centers.
The discussion also covered the role of academics in the electoral process and how to encourage voters to actively participate in the upcoming elections.
