Tammuz Holds an Electoral Awareness Forum for Academics in Maysan
As part of the project “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of Media,” funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners from the Ein and Shams networks for election monitoring, organized an electoral awareness forum for academics in Maysan Governorate on Monday, August 25, 2025.
The forum was attended by a group of academics from various fields who are interested in electoral matters. The session included a presentation on the legal framework of elections (the Iraqi Parliamentary Elections Law), an explanation of the importance of elections and the democratic process, as well as the voter registration update mechanism, ballot papers, and polling centers.
The discussion also addressed the role of academics in the electoral process and explored ways to encourage voters to actively participate in the upcoming elections.
