Tammuz Holds Electoral Awareness Forum for Academics in Dhi Qar

As part of the “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media” project, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners—Ein and Shams Networks for Election Monitoring—organized an electoral awareness forum for academics in Dhi Qar Governorate on Wednesday, 18 June 2025.

The forum was attended by a group of academics from various fields who are interested in electoral matters. The event featured an explanation of the legal framework for elections (the Iraqi Council of Representatives Election Law), as well as the importance of elections and the democratic process, procedures for updating the biometric voter register, ballot papers, and polling centers.

The discussion also focused on the role of academics in the electoral process and how to encourage voters to participate in the upcoming elections.
