Tammuz Holds Electoral Awareness Forum for Academics in Sulaymaniyah
As part of the project “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Media Freedom”, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners, the Ein and Shams Networks for Election Monitoring, held an electoral awareness forum for academics in Sulaymaniyah Governorate on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
The forum brought together a group of academics from various fields who are interested in electoral affairs. During the session, the legal framework of elections (Iraqi Council of Representatives Elections Law) was explained, along with the importance of elections, the democratic process, the procedure for updating the voter register, as well as information on ballot papers and polling centers.
The discussion also addressed the role of academics in the electoral process and ways to encourage voters to participate in the upcoming elections.
