Tammuz Holds Electoral Awareness Forum for Academics in Wasit

As part of the project “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media”, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development—in collaboration with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners, Shams and Ein Networks for Election Monitoring—organized an Electoral Awareness Forum for academics in Wasit Governorate on Tuesday, 3 June 2025.

The forum was attended by a group of academics from various fields who are interested in electoral affairs. During the event, the legal framework for elections (specifically the Iraqi Parliamentary Elections Law) was explained, along with the importance of elections, the democratic process, procedures for updating the voter register, ballot papers, and polling centers.

The discussions also focused on the role of academics in the electoral process and ways to encourage voters to participate in the upcoming elections.
