Tammuz Holds Electoral Awareness Forum for Youth and Women in Babel

As part of the “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media” project, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners—Ein and Shams Networks for Election Monitoring—organized an electoral awareness forum for youth and women in Babel Governorate on Monday, 23 June 2025, at the Babel Chamber of Commerce Hall.

The forum was attended by groups of youth and women interested in electoral issues, as well as members of civil society organizations and volunteer teams. The event included an explanation of the legal framework for elections (the Iraqi Council of Representatives Election Law), the importance of elections and the democratic process, the procedure for updating the voter register, ballot papers, and polling centers.

The discussion also covered the role of youth and volunteer teams in the electoral process and ways to encourage voters to participate in the upcoming elections.
