Tammuz Holds Electoral Awareness Forum for Youth and Women in Diyala
As part of the project “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media”, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development—in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners, Shams and Ein Networks for Election Monitoring—organized an Electoral Awareness Forum for youth and women in Diyala Governorate on Wednesday, 4 June 2025, at the Directorate of Youth and Sports hall.
The forum was attended by a group of young people and women interested in electoral affairs, along with members of civil society organizations and volunteer teams. The event included an explanation of the legal framework of the elections (the Iraqi Parliamentary Elections Law), the importance of elections and the democratic process, the voter register update, ballot papers, and polling centers.
The discussion also addressed the role of youth and volunteer teams in the electoral process and how to motivate voters to participate in the upcoming elections.
