Tammuz Holds Electoral Awareness Forum for Youth and Women in Kirkuk

As part of the “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media” project, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners—Ein and Shams Networks for Election Monitoring—organized an electoral awareness forum for youth and women in Kirkuk Governorate on Saturday, 21 June 2025.

The forum was attended by a group of youth and women interested in electoral issues, along with members of civil society organizations and volunteer teams. The event included a presentation on the legal framework of elections (the Iraqi Council of Representatives Election Law), the significance of elections and the democratic process, procedures for updating the biometric voter register, as well as information about ballot papers and polling centers.

The discussions also addressed the role of youth and volunteer teams in the electoral process and ways to encourage voter participation in the upcoming elections.
