Tammuz Holds Electoral Awareness Forum for Youth and Women in Muthanna

As part of the “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media” project, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in collaboration with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners—Ein and Shams Networks for Election Monitoring—organized an electoral awareness forum for youth and women in Muthanna Governorate on Saturday, 12 July 2025.

The forum was attended by a group of youth and women interested in electoral affairs, along with members of civil society organizations and volunteer teams. The session included an explanation of the legal framework for elections (the Iraqi Council of Representatives Election Law), the importance of elections and the democratic process, procedures for updating the biometric voter register, ballot papers, and polling centers.

The discussions also addressed the role of youth and volunteer teams in the electoral process and strategies to encourage voter participation in the upcoming elections.
