Tammuz Holds Electoral Awareness Forum for Youth and Women in Najaf

As part of the “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media” project, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in collaboration with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners—Ein and Shams Networks for Election Monitoring—organized an electoral awareness forum for youth and women in Najaf Governorate on Thursday, 19 June 2025.
The forum was attended by a group of youth and women interested in electoral affairs, along with members of civil society organizations and volunteer teams. During the event, the legal framework for elections (the Iraqi Council of Representatives Election Law) was explained, as well as the importance of elections and the democratic process, the procedure for updating the biometric voter register, ballot papers, and polling centers.
The discussions also highlighted the role of youth and volunteer teams in the electoral process and explored ways to encourage voter participation in the upcoming elections.
