Tammuz Holds Electoral Awareness Forum for Youth and Women in Sulaymaniyah

As part of the project “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media”, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), the Tammuz Organization for Social Development—together with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and its project partners, the Shams and Ein Networks for Election Monitoring—organized an Electoral Awareness Forum for youth and women in Sulaymaniyah Governorate on Thursday, 22 May 2025.
The forum was attended by youth and women interested in electoral affairs, along with members of civil society organizations and volunteer teams. During the event, participants received an overview of the legal framework for elections (specifically the Iraqi Parliamentary Elections Law), as well as an explanation of the importance of elections, the democratic process, procedures for updating the voter registry, ballot papers, and polling centers.
The forum also included discussions on the role of youth and volunteer groups in the electoral process and strategies to encourage voter participation in the upcoming elections.
