Tammuz Holds the Electoral Awareness Forum for Academics in Anbar

As part of the project “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media,” funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission and its project partners, Shams and Ein Election Monitoring Networks, organized the Electoral Awareness Forum for Academics in Anbar Governorate on Saturday, 19 July 2025.

The forum was attended by a group of academics from various disciplines who are interested in electoral matters. The sessions included an explanation of the legal framework of elections, specifically the Iraqi Council of Representatives Election Law, and a clarification of the importance of elections, the democratic process, and procedures related to updating the voter registry, ballot papers, and polling centers.

The discussions also addressed the role of academics in the electoral process and explored ways to encourage voters to participate in the upcoming elections.
