Tammuz Holds the Electoral Awareness Forum for Academics in Babylon

As part of the project “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media,” funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission and its project partners, Shams and Ein Election Monitoring Networks, organized the Electoral Awareness Forum for Academics in Babylon Governorate on Saturday, 19 July 2025.
The forum was attended by a group of academics from various fields who are interested in electoral affairs. During the session, the legal framework for elections—specifically the Iraqi Council of Representatives Election Law—was explained. The discussions also covered the importance of elections, the democratic process, procedures for updating the voter register, as well as information about ballot papers and polling centers.
The conversation further explored the role of academics in the electoral process and how they can encourage voters to participate in the upcoming elections.
