Tammuz Holds the First Workshop on Electoral Violence within the Community-Led Solutions to Counter Violent Extremism Project in Dhi Qar

Within the framework of the Community-Led Solutions to Counter Violent Extremism project, supported by Al-Masalla Organization and funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Tammuz Organization for Social Development held its first workshop on the topic of electoral violence.
The workshop was attended by several candidates for the Iraqi Parliament elections for the sixth cycle (2025), a representative of the Independent High Electoral Commission in Dhi Qar, members of the Subcommittee for Countering Extremism in Dhi Qar Governorate, representatives of electoral campaign teams from various blocs and coalitions, election monitoring observers, and legal experts.

The workshop focused on defining electoral violence, its forms, and its manifestations, and explaining its connection to violent extremism, in addition to emphasizing the need to identify effective measures to reduce it.
The workshop also addressed the impact of inciting rhetoric on social peace, while participants discussed a set of recommendations to mitigate electoral violence, the role of society and the media in this regard, and the importance of enforcing relevant laws and regulations.
