Second Dialogue Session with Women of Al-Jubayish Marshes

The project team of “women for Democracy”, which implemented by Tammuz Organization for Social Development*, organized the second dialogue session with a group of women from the Al-Jubayish marshes, in collaboration with the *Arab Marshes Organization*, on Friday, November 1, 2024.

The aim of the session was to engage with women in this area, listen to their needs and concerns, and understand the impact of climate change on the marsh inhabitants, particularly women.

The main environmental challenges faced by the women of the marshes are as follows:

* Women are struggling to secure a stable income, as they rely on activities such as herding and fishing. Due to environmental degradation and water scarcity, their income has decreased, exacerbating their economic situation.

* Environmental changes, such as drought, have caused many residents of the Al-Jubayish marshes to migrate. It is evident that women and children are most affected by this migration, as they face greater difficulties in adapting to life in new areas, leading to the deterioration of their social and economic conditions.* Women in the Al-Jubayish marshes suffer from a lack of healthcare due to weak infrastructure. Additionally, climate changes have increased health risks, such as waterborne diseases, which negatively impact the health of pregnant women and children.
