Election Monitoring Networks Release Special Voting Monitoring Report for Kurdistan Regional Parliament Elections
The special voting process for the Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections began at 7:00 am on Friday, October 18th , 2024, 165 centers opened their doors , they distributed as follows: 62 centers in Erbil, 57 centers in Sulaymaniyah, 33 centers in Dohuk, and one center in Halabja, in addition to 4 centers in Nineveh, one center in each of Salah al-Din, Anbar, Kirkuk, Wasit, Diyala, Baghdad al-Rusafa, and two centers in Karkh.
The number of polling stations reached 749, and the number of voters for the special vote are 215,960 two hundred and fifteen thousand nine hundred and sixty voters who are entitled to vote, and the voting rate reached 97% with 208,521 voters who participated in the special vote.
It is worth noting that the Tammuz Social Development Organization’s network of observers is monitoring the elections in the Kurdistan Region with more than 200 observers distributed by polling stations and centers. The monitoring is carried out within the framework of the Alliance of National Networks and Organizations to Monitor the Kurdistan Region Parliament Elections, which is monitoring with more than 1,600 observers, and within the Democracy and Transparency Project “Enabling Civic Participation and Media Freedom “in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) and with the support of the European Union.
It is worth noting that the monitoring is carried out on a long-term basis, starting from the stage of approving the election law and continuing until the general voting day on October 20th, monitoring the counting, sorting and auditing, and reaching the final announcement of the election results.
